Habitat

We take into account the priority habitats under the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC inside the SIC Pilo and Casaraccio Pond, located between the pond and the wetland Casaraccio called “Saline di Stintino.”

Priority habitat 1150 *, coastal lagoons

The Coastal lagoons are extensions of shallow coastal salt waters, with salinity and volumes variable, separated from the sea by a barrier of sand, pebbles, or more rarely by a rocky barrier. The salinity may vary brackish water going to the hypersaline in relation to rainfall, evaporation and contribution of seawater given by storms from temporary invasion of the sea in winter or because of the tides. With or without a vegetation Ruppietea maritimae Potametea, Zoosteretea or Charetea (Corine 91: 23.21 ou 23:22) “Flads et” gloes “, considered to be a Baltic variety of lagoons, are small bodies of water, generally shallow, more or less defined, yet linked to the sea or which have been very recently isolated from the emergence of land. These are characterized by the reeds well developed, a submerged vegetation lush and different morphological stages and botanical linked to processes where the sea becomes earth. basins and ponds of salt may also be considered as lagoons, to the extent that they are the result of the transformation of an ancient natural lagoon or an old salty sea and characterized by a reduced impact of fishing activities. these habitats provide important nesting sites for target species considered for this project, including Black-winged stilt Himantopus himantopus andLittle tern  Sternula albifrons and is one of the key habitats during migration pre-and post-reproductive power and stop numerous species of waterfowl (see Management Plan SIC AA.VV). Conservation status is good and is present in dune depressions that dry up in summer from the coast of “Saline Ezzi Mannu” and the Casaraccio lagoon.

Priority habitat 1510 *, Mediterranean salt steppes

The Mediterranean salt steppes are associations of the coastline, rich in perennial grasses (Limonium spp. Ligeum or spartum) on temporarily flooded soils (but not flooded) from salt water, exposed to extreme dry summer, with the formation of salt efflorescence. The site in question (these formations are located in the Casaraccio lagoon and in depressions on the margins of Stintino salt marshes), appear quite disturbed by human activity that now, through the introduction of alien species is denaturalizzando these habitats.
